Fact: Unless you’re Justin Timberlake, if you’re a white heterosexual male, chances are you can’t dance and probably shouldn’t. That’s why the smart ones will be drinking at the bar while the not-so-smart ones will be throwing some horribly embarrassing shapes on the dance floor. There are, of course, exceptions to the rule and it’s always a pleasure to discover them.
Scissors for Lefty are an indie rock band based out of San Francisco who have shared the stage with the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Blonde Redhead, The Bravery and Panic! At the Disco. Three of the five performed for us at our Venice studios: Bryan Garza on vocals, Steve Garza on bass and James Krimmel on guitar. (It was rumored the other two band members, Peter Krimmel and Robby Garza, were MIA after a mishap involving a very large red helium balloon went awry. Or perhaps they were at work.)
How many skinny bitches does it take to make a bestseller?
With a steady following (and the help of celebrity photo-endorsers like Victoria Beckham and Jessica Alba), Skinny Bitch has become a runaway sensation. After less than two years in print, a whopping 600,000 copies exist worldwide and translation rights have been procured for seven different languages. Yes, there are wannabe skinny bitches everywhere.
We put together a full hour long Real G show to test out the concepts of a green lifestyle show with our unique dark green twist. The music for the most part is just temp music and wouldn’t make it to the real show. If some powerful producer likes what they see, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.The show is very rough, and not done exactly as we would have liked. We wanted to create a live audience show, but just couldn’t squeeze them into our studio, which was built into a real green house in Venice California.
The Real G is fast, furious and alternatively fueled.
Darker, cooler and edgier than its cousin green….‘G’ is where mind-expanding knowledge, eye-popping aesthetic, plant-based sustenance and beats per minute collide. ‘Real’ because we keep it that way. We introduce viewers to an organic lifestyle, which doesn’t cost a fortune or look like crap.
Each slick, sexy, sixty minute episode is shot ‘as live’ and features cutting edge fashion, design, cars, news, food, celebrities and music. While guests, bands and green chefs interact with our hosts at The Real G’s modern stylish studios in Venice, CA, our team of roving reporters hit the runways, highways, green carpets and more to bring us the best and the brightest of this emerging lifestyle.
For those of you not fortunate enough to be on this year’s guest list (or able to pay $500 for a ticket) G Living will be your eyes and ears at this year’s 17th annual Environmental Media Awards (EMAs). We are taking G LIVING’s REAL G on location, couch and all. We will make sure Nobel Prize winner, Former Vice President Al Gore, and all his Hollywood friends get cozy on the G Living Couch and get real!
Blue-Eyed Son’s Andrew Heilprin is the former front man for 40 Watt Domain (the group that created the sonic surf smoke punk genre) whose album “West of Lincoln” shows off the singer/songwriter’s stripped down, acoustic side. An avid surfer and outdoorsman, Andrew recently stopped by to perform an exclusive 2-song set on The Real G and chat about his environmental concerns.
I caught up with Andrew this afternoon via telephone to find out what he’d been up to since his “great” (his word) experience on The Real G. He said he’d gone “to Mexico and scored some insane surf,” which he’s editing footage of right now for possible use on his website blueeyedson.com.
Got $105,000 in loose change and a malleable idea of green? Then Lexus has just the vehicle for you. Also, want to hang out?
Primped and primed just in time for the holiday season, the LS 600h L is the most expensive Lexus ever built. Expect only a few valet parked at the Malibu Green Drinks. Only 2,000 are planned to be sold in North America.
The 600h is meant to target buyers of luxury sedan flagships from Mercedes, BMW and Audi. But perhaps sensing that a different approach is in order in an era where hypocrisy gets noticed, the Japanese automaker is approaching the arena with its own geeky swagger.
The big brains at Lexus have evidently stumbled upon a fundamental truth of the American car market: instead of trying simply just make cars run more efficiently, it’s more lucrative to make cars run fast more efficiently.
Coming into its second year on the market, the 450h is the second of Lexus’s now three vehicles to feature the Lexus Hybrid Drive (in reality just a relabeled second-generation Toyota Synergy Drive). Along with the RX 400h sport utility and brand-new LS 600h flagship sedan, Lexus is attempting to corner the market on performance hybrids, just as Toyota has with efficiency hybrids.
Its 3.5-liter V-6 engine puts out 292 horsepower, while the electric motor-generator ups its power is equivalent to a 4.5-liter V-8. The generator produces some 197 horsepower, but because the peaks don’t match up, 292 and 197 add up to 339. Don’t ask me how.
When G Living told me I’d be cruising around with an actor named “Brad” in his electric car, I was like, “Whoa! I wonder if Angie and the kids’ll be in the back seat?”
“No,” they answered. “Not Brad Pitt. Brad Dourif.” I went to the Internet Movie Database to make sure I knew who they were talking about, and when I saw that the character actor had a amazingly diverse resume dating back to an Oscar-nominated performance in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, I was like, “Whoa! That’s even cooler than Brad Pitt!”
The ride was fun. And so was our chat, which extended far beyond movies and electric cars.
Here is one of our promo’s for the Real G! Tell us what you think and then embed it on your site, or in your facebook account. More people who see it the better. Thank you from the bottom of our black monkie hearts.
Modern? Luxury? Green? Wow. Sounds like a job for G Living! And send me, please. We’re excited to be invited to the first ever Wired LivingHome. Off to Brentwood, California, taking you (wherever you are) to a residence that promises to serve as the benchmark for how we can live NOW. The future is here. NOW. We may not be fulfilling upon my vision of the future: the Jetsons with flying cars and instant pill meals (just add water)… but iPhones and electric cars come pretty close, and if you’re a total construction/architecture slut like me, these homes (if you’ve never seen one) make me want to swear. They’re cool. And this one is open to the public. We can get in, and you can, too.
BMW is getting in on the action by sponsoring the event, shuttling people and offering test drives with their CleanEnergy Campaign. And %s of the proceeds go to Global Green USA, the champions that enable people like you and me to afford a home like this. Look for them coming to visit us soon on The Real G.
