Modern “G” Summer Pool Furniture by Viesso

When it comes to buying furniture and living “G” the options are pretty bleak. I think I have seen the same recycled crate seats again and again on website after website. Look, yes recycling is cool, but really I don’t want to furnish my house with recycled milk crates. It’s just not “G”. Are you feeling me. Well, lucky for the G Living staff, there was this company just down the street called Viesso, founded by two brothers, which makes lushes modern cleanly designed furnisher from all “G” materials. Viesso was the company which made all of the couches you see on the Real G shows and our outdoor benches. Our couches are made from sustainable harvested wood, natural latex and recycled synthetic micro suede. They feel amazing.

But todays post isn’t about our couches, its about Viesso’s new line of Pool / Patio furniture (on sale). We now have a need for some modern outdoor furniture, since we just moved out to Palm Desert and we have these very large decks wrapping around our new saltwater pool. Okay, not our saltwater pool, my saltwater pool. And when you look at the decks, they are just screaming for some cool furniture. Right now I just have these semi-tacky very cheap target type patio tables. Normally I would have to look at a store like Design within Reach, which sells the right style of furniture, but I don’t think there is anything green about the materials from which they are made. But with Viesso, and this is why I love these guys, they not only nail the modern design, they made sure by default everything is made “G”. Look at this stuff. Just so clean.

Have You Enjoyed A Coke Today?

0 Have You Enjoyed A Coke Today?

I love documentaries. The power of a camera and a mic are completely astonishing. With these simple tools you can expose powerful truths, in ways no other media can. For example, feeling good about that coke you just tossed back? Good, Drone Boy, here is a documentary that might make you think twice about picking up another one. Plus, soda just isn’t good for you. Stop the killing and improve your health. See, it’s a win win. I can see that Drone Fever clearing up already.

The Coca-Cola Case In this feature length documentary, directors German Gutiérrez and Carmen Garcia present a searing indictment of the Coca-Cola empire and its alleged kidnapping, torture and murder of union leaders trying to improve working conditions in Colombia, Guatemala and Turkey.

The filmmakers follow labour rights lawyers Daniel Kovalik and Terry Collingsworth and an activist for the ‘Stop Killer-Coke!’ campaign, Ray Rogers, as they attempt to hold the giant U.S. multinational beverage company accountable in this legal and human rights battle.

Who knew Vegnews now is producing recipe videos. Well maybe you guys did, but it was a surprise to me, so I am posting one very cute video by Chloe Cascarelli. Who turns out to be the Food Networks winner of the Cupcake Wars. Yeah me too, I have no idea what that is. She whips up two quick, vegan dessert recipes for this past 4th of July. The first one is a Berry Cobbler, made with Strawberries and Blueberries. The second one is a Chocolate-Dipped Ice Cream Sandwich.

All of us here are big fans of VegNews Magazine, so head over there or pickup the latest issue at Whole Foods.

Looking Back At The Green Shows New York Fashion Week 2010

0 Looking Back At The Green Shows New York Fashion Week 2010

If you didn’t make it to NYC Fashion week back in February, here is what you missed when it came to the Green Shows. 2010 was the first year green “G” designers came together to present their collections during the biggest week in the fashion industry, The NYC Fashion Week.

I have to admit, I didn’t make it over to see the shows either. But the videos are still inspiring and give me hope the “G” fashion world is just beginning to burst into the main stream. Everyone should go out and support these designers. Buy something, show it off and hook up your friends. I know I will.

Architecture Eye Candy – The Casa No Geres Living Within The trees

A home designed to live on the edge, literally. This house by Porto-based Correia/Ragazzi Aquitectos sits on the edge of many things. Edge of design, edge of a cliff and within the borders of a very special national park.

The owners, Mica and Eduardo Pinto Ferreira, have been Correia’s clients for more than a decade, and gave her carte blanche to create their dream house on the 5,000 square-meter site by the Cevado river – as long as no trees were cut and the 60 square-meter house (maximum allowed footprint for the site) was made of concrete. The house is located in Peneda-Geras National Park, along the Spanish border in northern Portugal, so the environment and its inviolability were crucial and the rules strict.

VeganJoy Likes Us / Reviews G Living, No Really, Honest!

vegan joy likes gliving VeganJoy Likes Us / Reviews G Living, No Really, Honest!

Okay, everyone knows I am a no good dark twisted juice guzzling bastard Monkie, but that doesn’t mean people around the world don’t like me. Or more to the point, don’t like G Living. In fact I can count at least 10 people I know personally, who have told me, hey you know that G Living its alright. No I did not get that in writing or on tape, but it did happen, trust me.

Now, finally here is a review, or more of a description of G Living, by the blog VeganJoy by Jo Tienzo.

G Living The self-described “darker, cooler side of green” is exactly that, a smart, crisp site devoted to articles on living green, from architecture to food to fashion. I love the focus on fresh (read: raw) vegan foods and its casual vibe. Among the contributors? Sarma Melngalis of Pure Food and Wine in NYC, David Anderson of Madeleine Bistro, and Dhrumil Purohit of We Like It Raw.

See, what did I tell you…. Now things will be different. :)

Authentic Italian Cooking In Lecce | Aria Alperts, Italian Journals

Aria italian journey cooking school 03 Authentic Italian Cooking In Lecce | Aria Alperts, Italian JournalsPhotographer: Aria Alpert

If ever you have dreamed, as I have, about doing what I am doing, I could not recommend this school enough. I have begun my delightfully authentic incredibly charming cooking school here in Lecce, which is named with utter perfection, The Awaiting Table.

First you must, read all about them on their website awaitingtable.com and then, if the school moves you as much as it did me, get your ass on a plane and come here. It’s time. If not now, when. This has been my motto as of late and that is exactly why I am here. Happy and beautifully blissed out in Italia!

Silverstro, the charming creator and chef and wine extraordinaire, welcomed me with the open arms of an old friend I haven’t seen in years because he decided to move to Italy. He’s passionate and fun and loves, not only a lot of amazing food and incredible wine, but also his authentic appreciation for the Italian culture is contagious and I find myself feeling like a local, integrated into this lovely town of Lecce.
