Daft Punk captures the phenomenon that has become their current live show on Daft Punk Alive 2007. Recorded at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy on June 14, 2007 in their native France, the double disc impossibly captures the duo’s legendary show prowess. Here, the pounding beats of “Steam Machine” escalate at such a perfectly timed pace it could only work if a non-human was generating it.
Percolating into the popular strains of the vocodered “Around The World,” Alive 2007 blasts through “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.” The inclusion of snatches of well-placed looped vocals scattered throughout the tracks does well in breaking up the juggernaut of unrelenting rhythms just at the right times. By the time the frenzy of “One More Time” hits, accompanied by the sounds of a bellowing heaving crowd, there is a feeling of exuberant exhaustion from the tangible overdrive of energy on Alive 2007.
