Way back in 2007 Donna Karan appeared on The Martha Stewart Show to talk about how her husband (who had recently passed away from cancer) had inspired her to change her life and to help others. She decided to try and help people make better / healthier choices, which would hopefully lead to them living fuller lives. Part of this mission, includes focusing on eating for your health. To bring this point home, she treated Martha to one of her favorite morning juice recipes. An Apple based green drink packed with flavor and nutrition. I have included the recipe after the jump.
As we wrote about before, Donna changed her life and diet around and lost a considerable amount of weight in the process. She consumes a diet of healthy organic living foods. She was on the show with Dr. David Hill who also made a healthy and fresh fruit smoothie that Martha said tasted like the best ice cream ever. You can catch the episode online at Martha’s site. Ingredients (preferably organic)
For the Green Drink:
1/2 bunch celery
1/2 bulb fennel
1/2 head romaine lettuce
1 (1-to-2-inch) piece of ginger
1 lemon, peeled
2 cups kale, spinach leaves, or parsley sprigs
Instructions: Juice all washed ingredients in a juicer. Serves 2 glasses.
