You can add Edward Norton’s name to the reasonably short list of celebrities getting their hands on the BMW Hydrogen 7. Joining the ranks of Jay Leno, Will Ferrell and other, Norton will be part of a “test-lease” program that BMW will use to gain valuable feedback on the car in the hopes of improving its performance before unleashing it to the public.
Why only celebrities are part of this “Pioneer Program” is not known. I’m sure I could provide feedback on the car if given the opportunity. That aside, Norton is a worthy candidate in my eyes, given that he’s one of the founders of the Solar Neighbors Program, which helps provide PV panels to some of L.A.’s lower-income housing. He also (according to Ecorazzi) recently “hooked up with Will Ferrell to donate a solar system to a supportive housing unit for the chronically homeless.”

BMW considers the Hydrogen 7 to be a “milestone in bringing forward hydrogen as the sustainable fuel for individual transportation.” While burning hydrogen, the vehicle emits only water vapor.
Let’s hope these celebs hurry up with their feedback so BMW can make their improvements and start letting us commoners lessen our CO2 burden.
