We womenfolk don’t need much to keep us in a state of sartorial bliss: a killer pair of heels, a handbag to-die-for, some bling that never goes astray (the blood-free variety, of course) and finally, that perfect LBD.
But for the socially conscious amongst us, where do you turn when you want to ensure that your little black dress doesn’t make a little black mark on the environment? Greenloop is the go-to online shopping destination for hundreds of hot green designers. Here they give us the lowdown on their top four LBDs:
Edun Fleur Spaghetti Strap Dress
This slip style offering from Bono and wife Ali Hewson’s line is, not surprisingly, a little bit rock ‘n’ roll while still maintaining a classic feel. Made from lightweight silk, the cut even allows you to eat some spaghetti — which is nice.
Habitude Double V Tie Back Dress
This one would look good on someone who’s well endowed up top but also comes with shapely arms. (Are there any new moms with 10-pound twins out there?) Made from sumptuous organic hemp and silk and trimmed with 100% organic cotton ribbing, you can yuppify the look by adding pearls or downplay it with flat boots and a trench coat.
Same Underneath Bamboo Cowl Neck
It’s a minimalist take on Diane Von Furstenburg’s wrap dress. The 3/4 sleeves give this sexy number an effortlessly chic look, one that will allow you to go from day to night to day again (not that you’re that kind of girl). This bamboo and cotton blend will ensure that you feel as fabulous as you look.
Edun Luna Shift Dress
Wow, these rock stars get double dips. Luckily you don’t need to look like a tanorexic groupie to pull it off. This flattering shift style dress would look fab on most body types and with its velvet straps and silver pins lining, it has enough detail to stand out from the crowd. And because it’s Edun, you know it’s all ethical.
I think this is a great representation of the spectrum of green LBDs out there. If I had to choose just one, it would be the Same Underneath Bamboo Cowl Neck.
But then again, I’m the type who’d take all four.
