As an emerging green fashionista will tell you, it’s exciting to discover and fall in love with a new designer — and then later unearth the fact that they are green. It’s like eating an entire tub of ice cream and learning afterwards that it was National No Calorie Day. Or to find out that cigarettes were good for you after all. (I’m so kidding about this inflammatory last remark — no pun intended).
I’m happy to report that this remarkable phenomenon bestowed itself on me when I chanced upon green fashion label, frei, whose Spring 2008 collection is really something else. They had me at their muted palate of beige, chocolate, asphalt or cream, but clinched it with their cut. I love the layered wrap skirt and the scoop neck empire-waisted dress with the uneven hemline, and their ever so slightly crumpled trench coat is to die for. Even the waistcoat (which I normally have an irrational phobia of) looks highly desirable, especially paired with the super wide legged pants.
Best of all, these beautiful clothes were born from a beautiful idea. frei prides itself on its unique, finely crafted garments which “marry the wearer’s individuality with their ethics”. By upholding their values of style, quality and sustainability, frei comes up trumps with their timeless elegance and very modern social responsibility.
frei — get obsessed with ethical fashion at its finest.
