Frontier Project Breaks Ground| April 25th

Here are two phrases I like hearing in reference to architectural design: “Ground breaking” and “leading by example”. Both are essential components of forward thinking, as far as I’m concerned. And both are in the Frontier Project’s lexicon, along with other essential terms like green building, technology and sustainable practices.
Hoping to lead by example, the Frontier Project’s goal is to demonstrate the cost effectiveness of designing and building green projects, and with the help of a cooperative of experts in Southern California’s Inland Empire, they’re gearing up to break ground tomorrow on a 14,000-square-foot demonstration facility.
The LEED Platinum demonstration project will serve as an instructional tool and model for future development in Riverside and San Bernardino counties and will house the non-profit Frontier Project Foundation as well as the Cucamonga Valley Water District. And as far as green features go, it will certainly provide a lot for other structures to live up to. We can look forward to a green roof, solar panels for energy, a radiant heating system, energy efficient appliances, on-site composting and much more.
The Frontier Project is hoping to have the building completed by June of 2009. But in the meantime, if you’re in or near Rancho Cucamonga tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., you can check out the ground breaking. It’ll be one giant step for greenkind. Be sure to bring a clear or green glass bottle to be used in the construction.
