KEDS | Kids Express Themselves Through Green Design

Many people think the best way to keep teenagers out of danger is through avoidance or abject fear, whereas I’ve always thought informative discussion was a more effective way to go. And what better way to spark a dialogue about the environmental repercussions of excessive bottled water consumption than through green sneaks?
I wish I could say the idea was mine, but it came from the geniuses at KEDS, who’ve teamed up with Boston non-profit Artists for Humanity to create this newfangled spin on their classic Champion slip-on shoe.
According to KEDS: “The young designers created the idea of ‘flying bottles’ as a creative way to express concerns about the environmental impact of bottled water consumption.” In addition, the shoes are constructed with 100% cotton, recycled factor rubber and water-based printing inks.
The shoes come in two colors, black or white. I’ll take one of each, please. After all, $1 per pair sold will be donated by KEDS to Artists for Humanity.
Great concept. Great looking shoe.
