Why would someone spend a million dollars greenovating an island retreat off the coast of Australia only to turn around and sell it? I don’t know the answer, but I bet Kylie Minogue has some thoughts on the subject. The singer has put her French Island home in Western Port Bay on the market and is expected to collect nearly $2 million for the place.
The home, located about two hours from Melbourne by boat, sounds like a perfect spot for a “G”-minded getaway. Located on an approximately 50 acre working farm with an organic fruit and vegetable garden coupled with an adjacent 171 acre wildlife preserve dedicated to protecting koalas and rare birds, the four-bedroom property — named Beauciel (French for “beautiful sky”) — features eco-friendly energy sources like solar and wind power. Which will come in handy, since the island doesn’t have electricity, gas, piped water or road access.
