Hey Stef,
Thanks for the message! The more time goes by the more apparent it seems that my weight loss was more about self love and feeling satisified on a spiritual leve. I said reacently that emotion eating was a sign of a starving soul. When I am filled with inspiration my emotional hunger disappears.

Hey Lori, over the past 2 years I have lost weight and gained it back, and then lost it again and just recently gained it back. The first time, I started out at about 140lbs. and in a 4 month period I lost about 30-35lbs weighing in at about 105-110lbs. I am a 63in or 5ft 3in frame. I gained almost all the weighted back in a 5 month period. I eventually weighed 131lbs again... And you are right it makes me not want to do social things, it makes me feel sad and terrible about myself. When I saw myself weigh that much when I was weighed for a biggest loser competition I joined to help my mom stay motivated to lose weight I realized I had to do something about it (plus there was a $300 prize for the winner) the first week I failed but then I was successful, and each week I stuck with it became easier and easier and before I knew it 3 months later I have lost over 20lbs (I had committed to a pretty strict diet, (fruit- lots of grapes, apples, cantaloupe, watermelon, and lots of salads with salsa for the dressing, I never ate sweets, which I am not a big sweet tooth anyways, I never ate bread, or dairy and I rarely at meat, if I did it was grilled chicken)!! I was so excited I weighed under 110lbs again, I felt confident and good about myself again! But then last May I started over eating and eating unhealthy again or eat to many calories of unhealthy food, and I was out of control. It is exactly 7 months later and I have been fighting this and it is soo hard especially when I fail I am devastated, I have been looking down on myself for so long now. I now weigh between 135-140lbs and I am soo uncomfortable with the way I look and I don't no what to do.. I mean I know how much hard work you have to put in to losing weight and looking great, I just somehow need that adrenaline rush I had those other 2 times I lost all the weight to keep going and see result- I guess what I need is to make my interest in losing weight a commitment! and stay focus. I try and make a food diary but I feel like something also messes me up. I am a college student and living in the dorms, I rarely ever drink or go out and party. I am ready to be committed, I just need someone to share things with because this is soo hard and I just want my health to be back as my #1 priority, and I know all these people are going through the same thing. I want to be successful and not disappoint my family and friends. thanks

I am glad you share the same desire to rock a serious body. I know it can seem overwhelming (even for me), but if I take it one day at a time then I do ok. It isn't until I start thinking of the hours of exercise the months of effort that will need to go into making this happen. You really are on a budget so I recommend that you get your greens in. Kale is pretty cheap in the market. If you can try to get 2 bunches in a day you'll be on your way. I like them in green smoothies. Sometimes I make a huge pitcher, fill it in mason jars and keep it in the refridge. If I am doing good I'll have 2 huge smoothies a day. Going raw til dinner is an excellent start. So, if you can start w/ greens then I think you'll really RAWK it out . :)

I swear to god I've always wanted to do this. I have always wanted to eat super healthy and get lots of exercise. At the moment I have increased my daily activity a bit, but I'm no where near a healthy lifestyle. My one and only issue with the Raw food diet right now is that I am a full time student, and i have no income whatsoever, so I can't afford it. Any suggestions for a girl who's weekly food budget is $10 Canadian and wants to be healthy? I'm super desperate here.

Hey Samantha, (love that name, btw)
I know what you mean about nervous about getting all your nutritional needs through a raw food diet. I too,was taught we needed certain foods to ensure we have enough nutrition in our bodies. I have to say I have never felt healthier than I feel now! I recommend for every diet a very simple solution. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies, not cooked! Aim for 75% of your diet to come from that. I love the book by Dr Douglas Graham "80/10/10". I think dark leafy greens are where we remineralize! So, I like massaged green salads and green smoothies. I like to get these in regularly. According to Victoria Boutenko we need 2 bunches (about 2 lbs) of dark leafy greens a day!

I have made some recipe samples on youtube. Here are 2:
Smoothie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CQ64C1w1Fw&feature=channel_page
Salad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKG5wsH0o_I&feature=channel_page

Hopefully, this is helpful! :) Go green....literally, with your diet...eat your greens ;)

Hey Lori!

Go girl! I'm inspired, but I am nervous about getting enough of what I need! What do you recommend for a lacto-ovo vegetarian starting out on a raw diet? Any helpful websites with menu plans? What's the first step?

Hey Johnny,
You are probably refering to the "Master Cleanser". Yes, I have done that several times, but not during this bikini body challenge. I wanted to find raw cane juice to use other than maple syrup. I do drink lots of lemon though. Perhaps, I will do that cleanse during this challenge...great idea :). Fasting always brings a sense of peace as well as balanced out my appetite.

I decided to go raw for several reasons, some are to balance out my thyroid and digestion as well as drop a little weight that I put on from becoming more sedentary. I was not raw when I gained the weight. However, I did gain some weight when I first went raw because I was eating all the fancy schmancy raw food that had way too much fat and salt in it. My salad dressings were messing me up too. I am doing simple raw foods now.

I took the first bikini shot in January.
