Yes finally Range Rover has woken up and is playing with the idea of to be green! This is great news for someone like me, who needs a quality vehicle to haul around all my photo gear, but hates the idea of driving a 12 mile a gallon vehicle.
I have to admit it, I currently own a 2001 Discovery 2. I bought the car to take with me to some remote island like Grenada, where it’s amazing off road capabilities and hauling capability makes sense. But living in L.A. it’s just a gas guzzler. So, we ended up driving it only about 4 times a month, when we need the hauling capacity. The rest of the time we ride either our electric bikes, or walk.
But back to the new maybe someday being real green Land Rover. The concept vehicle was designed by the previous owner which was Ford Motor Company, but now Land Rover is a division of Tata Motor company, which is based in India. What a twist of fate for the Brits, their icon vehicle now owned by two previous colonies. We will have to see what Tata see the future as green as Ford.
