Matt and Nat | The Bag Alternative You Want
Posted By Sarah Backhouse On January 31, 2008 @ 4:00 pm In G Living,Style / Fashion / Beauty | No Comments
If you’ve been following my columns (I won’t mention you three by name here), you’re aware of the roadblocks I’ve faced in my effort to embrace a completely “G” Lifestyle. In the realm of fashion, my frustration can be summed up in two words and a particle: bags and shoes. To speak frankly, giving up leather in exchange for PVC just isn’t an attractive proposition.
I want to want these new green creations in the same way I covet a Gary Harvey dress or Elsom jeans or an Arcona oxygen therapy facial.
Well, my cries of disappointment must have been heard all way to Montreal (I’ll admit to having a loud voice). Canada-based bag designers Matt and Nat’s Spring 2008 collection may just solve my sartorial dilemmas (and possibly create credit-related ones).
While the exquisite designs of their Kravitz, Kurosawa and Bjork handbags almost have me eating humble pie, it’s their new line, RE-RUN — nylon made from 100% recycled water bottles — that catches my attention. The Mahatma yoga bag is already on my Christmas list (Santa’s Hindu, right?). Similarly, the Japanese Paper line — comprised of 100% polyester — has got me all hot pink. Love the Vicious bag and could easily go for an Autobahn.
Finally, the highly desirable Linen line. That one’s a no-brainer. (And while you’re at it, Santa, I’d also like a Radiohead.)
