I just got a bunch of this stuff and I have to say it is not the best tasting stuff. It’s not horrible. There are no weird or funky tastes to it, in fact it’s a bit neutral. It’s just very gritty, powdery and very green. I do believe it is the healthiest and best quality protein out there though. As I experiment with different smoothies and shakes that it tastes good with I’ll post the recipes. So far it seems better to buy the unflavored pure hemp powder and add your own flavors to it. The Chocolate Chili is pretty good, not bad, if you like kind of spicy warming drinks. It just really limits what other ingredients it goes well with and you’re stuck with that flavor. The Vanilla Spice is pretty mild and doesn’t have a very strong flavor. With the plain one you get 1 gram more protein per serving. So far using almond milk or apple juice with frozen bananas, vanilla extract and cocoa powder with the plain one tastes pretty good.
Here is a write up from the company about the hemp protein:
Hemp Protein is 100% certified organic, raw, cold processed, vegan , gluten-free and kosher. It contains all 10 Essential Amino Acids, a well-balanced ratio of Omega – 3 and Omega – 6 Essential Fatty Acids, and GLA.
Hemp seed contains all 10 essential amino acids, the building blocks of protein. Hemp seeds contain 33% pure digestible protein, providing readily available amino acids for building and repairing tissue. Hemp seed protein is comprised of 65% high-quality edestin protein, the most potent protein of any plant source, 35% albumin protein and glutamic acid. The globulin edestin in hemp seed closely resembles the globulin in blood plasma, and is compatible with the human digestive system. It is vital to the maintance of a healthy immune system and is also used to manufacture antibodies. Albumin is a protein manufactured by the liver that is supportive of liver and kidney health.
