In a world where “natural” is becoming a bit too oblique, “organic” is really where it’s at. The more we’re educated about the dangers of pesticides, herbicides and other carcinogenic chemicals, not to choose organic seems almost negligent. This is true in the world of produce — after all, you are what you eat. It’s also fast becoming the norm in the arena of skincare. In the words of Origins: “you are what your skin eats”.
Since 1990, Origins has been at the forefront of natural skincare. However, it’s the recent launch of its Origins Organic line that caught my attention. Touted as “the first full line of prestige skin, body and hair care products to be certified under the USDA National Organic Program”, the line up includes: lip balm, purifying tonic, nourishing face lotion, foaming face wash, silkening body spritz, massage oil, cleansing body bar, hydrating body lotion and my personal favorite — the conditioning hair oil, which smells so delicious it could double as perfume. The percentage of organic ingredients in the above mentioned products range from 73% – 98%.
With their conscience as a guide, all Origins products are free of petroleum, parabens, paraffin and phylates — the letter P clearly has much to answer for — contain no animals products (except for cruelty-free honey and beeswax) and are tested lovingly on humans. What’s more, the company donates a portion of its sales to ‘”local, national and international causes that benefit people, animals and the planet”.
So, go ahead, go organic. Your skin will thank you.
