Oscars’ Green Greenroom

This year at the Green Themed Oscars, in a twist of irony, their greenroom was actually, green. Here is a write up from USA Today about the room;
“The greenroom has always been an afterthought, so Architectural Digest came up with the concept of a high-style greenroom,” says Amy Churgin, outgoing publisher of the glossy monthly that has overseen the Oscar greenroom design for five years. “People are wearing the most fabulous gowns and incredible jewelry, so why would they want to be backstage (with) rented furniture and a box of Krispy Kremes?”
This year, high style comes with a green theme — green as in eco-friendly design, a cause dear to many a Hollywood eco-warrior.
Thus, the design team of White Webb (Matthew White and Frank Webb) chose a rug made of recycled plastic bottles and walls lacquered with paint with no VOC (volatile organic compounds). Their scheme for the room combines their two specialties — classical and modernist design with walls in chocolate brown, interspersed with cool sea-green colors.
“Our objective was green chic,” Webb says. “We traded in Birkenstocks for Jimmy Choos.”
