Pamela Anderson Brings Eco-Housing To Canada

Pamela Anderson is shaking things up in her hometown of Ladysmith, British Columbia. The actress and animal lover has teamed up with former hockey pro Geoff Courtnall to create an environmentally friendly residential development on five acres of waterfront property that her grandparents once owned. The development, according to the development’s manager Peter Laughlin, will consist of 83 townhouses and condos and will utilize “environmentally friendly features [including] a geothermal heat exchange system and pavement that is water-permeable, and a recirculating pond and stream to prevent heavy runoff.”
Pamsville (as I propose they call it) will feature a seven story condo complex and two four story ones, including one build into the waterfront’s bank. Sounds fancy. And I’m especially pleased to report that this won’t be one of those unsightly complexes that’s jammed full of units. “The density proposed is less than is permitted under the current zoning,” says Laughlin. “We have tried to leave large areas of green space and preserve as many trees as possible.”
It seems there’s no stopping Pam. And I, for one, am grateful. I must confess to being disappointed when “Stacked” went off the air (I may have been the only one), but I guess if it gives Pam free time to work on worthwhile projects like this, it’s okay by me.
