Personal Living Spaces | The Habode Home

What is Habode? It can be a vacation home. It can be a cluster of homes in a retirement community. It can be office space. It can be a three-bedroom family house.

A better question is, What do you want it to be?

Habode homes are environmentally responsible pre-fab buildings that are tailored to your specifications. All of the houses are the same size (80 square meters), but the floor plan, window placement and doors are all up to you. Rod Gibson, the creator, based Habode on happy childhood memories of clear waters and green grass. He wanted to create re-locatable, recreational homes that can be placed in areas where building by conventional methods is difficult.

But, why stop there? Since, they’re customizable, they can be expanded to wherever the customer’s mind can go.

In order to preserve Rod’s clear waters and green grass, the Habode homes are potentially self-sufficient and designed to work with the area they’re going to inhabit. Because they’re pre-fabs, a lot of waste is reduced in construction and they’re efficient to ship.

Habode is also seeking to provide emergency housing in the future for people displaced by climate or man-made crises. Because they’re customizable, it’s a very dignified temporary housing solution, especially long-term. It’s hard not to imagine how different it would have been post-Katrina if Habode had been on hand.
