If you think the world around you is going green, you’re right. And that includes your television.

At 6:00 p.m. east coast time on June 4, 2008, the Disovery Home Channel will morph into Planet Green, the first 24-hour eco network on cable. On it, you can expect over 250 hours of original green programming featuring such well known personalities as Entourage’s Adrian Grenier, celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse, rapper/actor Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, mega rocker Tommy Lee, Tom Bergeron of Dancing With The Stars fame, Tom Brokaw and Tom Green.

I tried to get my own show, but they rejected me because my name’s not Tom.

“Planet Green is about motivating people to take an active role in a new conversation about the future of our planet,” says Planet Green’s President and General Manager, Eileen O’Neill.

From fresh, top-quality food to gadgets, shopping and more, Planet Green promises to be informative and entertaining. The show I’m most looking forward to is Adrian Grenier’s. “Using an L.A. home currently undergoing its own green makeover as base camp,” the 13-episode series will follow his team of green experts — including G Living’s own Boise Thomas (another Tom) — as they help greenify the homes of celebrities and “ordinary people”, as the press release says.

Also on the schedule is the recently renamed “Greensburg” (formerly Eco-Town), which will rebuild in green fashion a Kansas town devastated by an EF5 tornado.

And for those of you with fancy TVs (like me), Planet Green will also be broadcast in HD.

The official launch of PlanetGreen.com happens later this month. For more info, check out the network’s press page.
