Roadrunner | Low Flow Without Low Pressure

We’re all guilty of taking long showers. We’ve been told that by our fathers since we were teenagers. But sometimes it’s hard to keep the time down, what when it’s hair wash, leg shave and sugar body scrub day. (Was that too much info? Sorry.) And there’s the issue of running the water until it gets hot. What do you do this time? Pick out your clothes? Brush your teeth? Shiver? I’m obviously busy gathering my various accoutrement for the above mentioned shower. Thankfully, Evolve’s Roadrunner showerhead tackles both of these wasteful water practices head-on.

First up, the showerhead attachment is low flow, which means it uses approximately 1.5 gallons of water each minute you shower, compared with the standard 2.5 gallons per minute. But this doesn’t mean you’ll be showering under a trickle. Quite the contrary. Water pressure plays a part in how satisfying a shower feels, and there are huge variations from home to home. The Roadrunner incorporates high quality pressure with low flow to give a great shower experience that’s also green.

Dilemma number two. What to do while the shower warms up? The Roadrunner utilizes “ShowerStart” technology so you can still strike a downward dog while the shower’s heating up, only this time you’re saving water instead of wasting it. The Evolve showerhead does this by reducing the water stream to a trickle when the water has reached 95 degrees. This way you’ll hear when your shower is ready and it stops gallons of hot water simply running down the drain. This could add up to energy and water savings of 14%. Once ready, you can pull a cord to resume normal flow.

Both measures combined could “save a yearly average of 2,700 gallons of water, the fossil-fueled energy it takes to heat it — and up to $75 off your utility bill.”

Plus it sounds a lot more pleasant than a scolding father outside the bathroom door.
