I love to eat my smoothies with a spoon. I make them thick enough to pour into bowl so that I can top them with granola. To me this is heaven, the best way to have a bowl of granola and a smoothie all in one.

You may think that there is no real trick to making a smoothie that tastes like pudding. Well I beg to differ. To make a REALLY smooth and consistent smoothie, it takes some practice or just knowing what to pair together. You have to use the right ingredients in perfect amounts – to get that creamy consistency, texture and flavour. You can use more or less frozen fruit to make it thicker or less thick. Oh and of course you need a good blender, that can make or break the deal alone!

I have definitely made and had bad smoothies in the past. There is nothing worse than a watered down smoothie or one that just doesn’t have that mouth feel that you crave even when you’ve finished your smoothie. That’s what happens to me, I always want more even when it’s all gone. I truly can’t get enough of smoothies! They give me energy, fill me up and make me so happy! I get excited every time I make a new one, honest!

I have been making smoothies for years now – to the point where I have one pretty much everyday for breakfast. There is nothing wrong with this, as I change things up everyday. I use different ingredients from a variety of fresh fruits (mango, papaya, banana, blueberries, strawberries, peaches), along with either hemp milk, rice milk or almond milk, a handful of fresh greens from my garden like kale or spinach and of course I then add a scoop of my absolute favourite raw vegan protein powder – Sun Warrior – and then I throw in all kinds of super foods like goji berries, cacao nibs, bee pollen, maca, coconut oil, raw honey – you name it. Then of course I top it with a batch of home -sprouted raw granola and sometimes some blueberries (these ones are from my backyard).

There really is no better way to start your day!

For the Smoothie

1 ½ cups almond milk

1/2 frozen banana

1/2 cup frozen peaches

½ cup frozen papaya

4-5 frozen strawberries

1 handful greens (spinach, kale or chard) or 1 tsp powdered Ormus Super Greens

1 tbsp coconut oil

1 tsp raw honey

1 scoop Sun Warrior Protein Powder

For the Raw Granola

3 cups sprouted buckwheat (2 cups dry, sprouted for 2 days)

1 cup almonds, chopped

1 cup coconut flakes

½ cup goji berries

½ cup sprouted chia powder

½ cup pure water

1/3 cup raw honey

2 tbsp coconut oil

pinch of sea salt

spices – cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg

Instructions For The Smoothie:
1. Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender (like the vitamix) and blend until smooth, thick and creamy.
2. Pour into a bowl or a wide mug.
3. Top with fresh blueberries and some sprouted homemade granola or “Living Intentions” raw granola. It is super-b!

Instructions For The Raw Granola:
1. Mix the sprouted buckwheat, chopped almonds, coconut, goji and spices in a large bowl.
2. Gently heat up the water and dissolve the coconut butter, add the syrup and salt and mix.
3. Stir the wet ingredients in the dry and mix until you have a sticky mass
4. Place onto dehydrator sheets and dehydrate for 2-3 hours at 145F then at 115F for 6-8 hours or until dry and crispy.
