Sting and Trudie Styler Trapped In Their Carbon Heavy Rock Style Life

His band has been called the world’s dirtiest (and not because of their lyrics), while she’s been under fire for allegedly “forcing her chef to travel 100 miles to prepare a bowl of pasta.” Yet Sting and wife Trudie Styler have both claimed to be eco-warriors.

In what appears to be a standard case of “do as I say and not as I do”, it seems the rock legend and his producer wife have been caught with their eco pants down. “It’s true — we’re hypocrites over our huge carbon footprint,” the UK’s Daily Mail quotes Styler as saying during a recent interview at the Earls Court Real Food Festival after a journalist pointed out that the couple’s footprint “has been estimated as 30 times greater than the average Briton’s.”

Traveling between their seven homes (yes, seven) on private jets or cars and importing farm produce from their Italian estate to their house in England are among the accusations of the couple’s carbon footprint abuse. Not to mention Sting’s recent world tour with The Police, which traveled from North America to South America, Europe to Asia and then down to Australia and New Zealand with, according to Styler, “a 750-person crew” — including the Sting/Styler family.

In a seeming attempt to justify their footprint, Styler said “I would like to think that we both work pretty hard for the rights of indigenous people and for the rights of conservation of the Amazon rainforest, but we do need to get around. It’s a difficult one.”

I’ll say. It’s difficult enough to read about. It’s must be downright painful to be doing it.
