So here is the scoop for all you lucky souls out there considering a trip down to SE Asia.

Just a sidenote:
Those of us born in the “developed” world have so much to be thankful for. We were born rich.
Most people that you will meet in SE Asia have never left their own country. When you feel down because of your tax bill in april or because your computer keeps shutting down unexpectedly, take a deep breath and regain the awareness of how UNFATHOMABLY lucky you are.

Ok…here we go.

If you are going to Bali, you will likely want to just stay in Ubud. The island is relatively small, so you can do day trips from Ubud, which is centrally located. The beach is an hour away,
the mountains are an hour away…all easily reached. When you are ready to hire a driver for the day, avoid all the guys that hassle you on the street yelling “Transport?” “Taxi?” You will have to negotiate with them, and it can be a bit maddening at times. Use these guys for quick trips around town if you don’t have the time to go on foot. DO NOT be afraid to walk away. There are many more of them down the road, and this bold move will usually get them to accept your offer. The Starwood Capital Group plans to put a new star in Hollywood, with its conviction to begin construction on its green luxury hotel chain called “1”. Starwood aims to have fifteen locations in the next twenty-four months including Los Angeles.

Call it another example of going green in Hollywood.

The goal is to combine architecture that is environmentally sustainable with great interior design, service, and luxury. The Starwood Group, which owns high end hotels such as the W Hotels, Le Meridien, and Westin, hopes “1” will set a new standard for green hotels and eventually push the entire hotel industry to transform. Each “1” location plans to donate one percent of hotel revenue to local environmental groups, hence the simplicity of the name.

Looking for new green way to get around Chicago? Well, if your into fresh air and a relaxed pace, then you should try out the cities Rickshaw services. Okay your saying what the hell is a rickshaw, well your saying that if you have never traveled to places like India.

To tell you the truth, this is my first rickshaw experience in Chicago, and I was just a bit hesitent. But I was in Chicago among friends and my host for the night was G Living’s very own Green Chef Vanessa Sherwood. She hooked me and my friends up with a ride to theGreen Zebra restaurant, where we where all meeting up.
