Here is a nice way to start off my week. Lykke Li, that seemingly odd, sexy, foreign, never boring and can’t get enough of music artist, has just released two new singles, Get Some and Paris Blue. Most of you will know Lykke Li from the song Possibility, which was in the Twilight Saga, New Moon Movie. I first discovered these new little treasures on itunes for $1.99, which is a bargain, but then almost instantly to my surprise, Lykke emailed me to let me know I could have them for free. We are close like that, she knows I am always looking for a new fix. Well, that is really a half truth. She knows me and the other 100,000 or so, Lykke Li fan on her email list are just itching for a little more.
On her site lykkelie.com, you can download both songs. Yes, there is the catch, she wants yours soul, better known as your email address. You see, she is going on tour, and she needs to fill those seat with your warm bodies. I guess she thought giving away a song called Get Some, might be a good way to entice you to, well get some. It worked I am diving in. Oh yeah, I am going to go Get Some, if there is some still to get! At times like this, I wish I pursued directing music documentaries… oh well, back to writing about my garden. Oh yeah, I made the right career choice, sure I did! :)
Just when I thought I was ready to move on, she pulls me back in. Yes, I am talking about the soul grabbing little songstress Lykke Li. I have been completely sucked in by her new song, Possibility. I am just so taken by it. And if that wasn’t bad enough, now I’ve discover that she has made a music video (posted above). Great, now I can spend hours looping the video. (Can someone save me)
I can’t explain her hold on me really. It’s the slow, echo of her voice calling to me or something. I find myself listening to this song again and again and again, each time, a little more of my inner self starts to sing along with this mystical woman. If your brave enough, let your guard down, allow Lykke Li in for just a few hours. I am guessing your life may never be the same. It’s a real Possibility.
So, it is out in the open, I am confessing once again my un-shakable love for Lykke Li. I love everything about them, including their strange odd take music and visuals. There is just something about the entire bands weird geeky take on being a band. They dance around in their underwear, in some ones, one room apartment, while filming it, to make a music video. How could they possibly think that was going to be be cool? But of course it was, right?
Well, here are a few more videos of Lykke Li, including a live performance on some Holland Tv Show. More videos after the jump. Also, checkout my previous post about the very monkie band.
As you might have guessed, a Monkie like me has no real life. Which means, I don’t go out parting with friends, chat on the phone or even leave the building for more than a few hours a week. My idea of getting out is jumping on my electric bike and going to the farmers market to pick up 60 pounds of veggies to juice. For the most part, I pretty much stay glued to my eco steelcase Think Chair and stare at my three 30 inch Apple Cinema Displays. Which means I am always checking out what itunes is giving away for free and lucky for me, they give away some good stuff.
The latest gem found was a music video by the artist named Lykke Li. The song is called I’m Good, I’m Gone. The video is a bit odd, but in a good way. The entire video moves in this choppy rhythm, which seems to just an extension of how the artist herself moves on stage. Checkout both the video and the interview below.
