Terra Plana | Modern Aesthetic Footwear

“Terra Plana means Flat Land. It looks like we live on a flat land but, as with Terra Plana products, there is a more subtle truth.” So says the London-based shoe designer on their website.
Huh? By subtle truth, do they mean absolute non-disputable fact? No need for a response. Luckily for us, their skills lie in crafting footwear, not analogies.
Managing Director Galahad Clark comes from seven generations of shoemakers and knows the dirty little secrets behind the shoe trade: “The shoe industry is a polluting industry – it uses glues to stick components together and oil-based plastics for the uppers and the soles.” Terra Plana shoes, on the other hand, are constructed by artisans using natural materials like recycled rubber, natural latex and recycled Pakistani quilts to maximize energy efficiency and minimize toxins and glues. Team this with Galahad’s modern design aesthetic and you’re onto a winner.
In fact, Terra Plana was recently awarded the Ethical Product of the Year by Britain’s Observer newspaper.
Terra Plana shoes fall into three categories: 21st Century Artisan — their core range of footwear; Recycled — represented by sub-brand Worn Again, which utilizes 99% recycled materials; and Barefoot — Dopie and Viva Barefoot, which use ultra thin Kevlar sole to mimic nature.
So, whatever your theory on the shape of the planet, I can guarantee you won’t fall off of it with sustainable and stylish shoes from Terra Plana. And you’ll sure look great.
