The Flying Cow (Minus the Leather)
Posted By Sarah Backhouse On February 9, 2008 @ 12:20 pm In G Living,Style / Fashion / Beauty | No Comments
Shoes and Italy. These two words are very comforting to me. Just like rhubarb and custard or “24” and TiVo, they go together well. Two words that don’t sit well (in the fashion world anyway) are leather and fur. That’s the belief held by Bologna-based ethical shoe company, The Flying Cow.
Before I wax lyrical about the eco-benefits, can I please express my adoration of the super sexy “Virginia” from their Fall 2007 collection? The floral lace twist to the classic stiletto is an exquisite touch. And then there’s the drool worthy “Matilde”. I can picture myself cavorting around the Italian countryside in a pair of these delectable beauties. Made in Italy, the collection is “a symphony of impeccable craftsmanship and innovative Italian design”.
Now back to why I’m writing about it. The Flying Cow is committed to using materials that do not harm, hurt or kill animals. Instead they favor materials like linen, hemp and cotton that are breathable, antibacterial and durable. Their synthetic fabrics are PVC-free, the wood they use doesn’t appear on the lists of world wildlife conservation agencies and they choose nickel-free metals.
So, what are you waiting for? Fatti a fare un po’ di shopping!.
