If you’re wondering where all the prime movers and shakers in green business will be this Saturday, ponder no more. They’ll be at UCLA for a sustainability conference known as Opportunity Green. The conference boasts “the best and the brightest entrepreneurial CEOs, executives, professionals, designers, investors and bloggers”, all focused on creating sustainable enterprises that turn a profit.
The speaker line-up is a veritable who’s who of the socially conscious business world: Kevin Wall, founder of Live Earth; Jamais Cascio, co-founder of WorldChanging, who writes about emerging technologies and cultural transformation; Sam LaBuddle, biologist and winner of the Goldman Environmental prize, whose footage provided the first graphic evidence of dolphin slaughtering; Graham Hill, co-founder of Treehugger; Kimberly Brooks, new media pioneer, artist, activist and founder of Lightray Productions; Gunther Lie, Marketing at Method; John Picard, environmental builder, sustainability expert and G Living homie; and New Zealander Ian Wright, engineer and founder of Wrightspeed, makers of the X1 all electric supercar.
Participants will be addressing everything from challenges and opportunities in green business to connecting with the community to branding to investment to transportation to even women in sustainability.
Our own Boise Thomas will be emceeing the event while yours truly will be on the sidelines with a cool drink of water and orange quarters getting inside scoop from the speakers.
I mean, is there a better way to spend a Saturday?
