Take one clean, modern space, add a luxury product line, throw in some celebrity clientele and until recently you’d be on your way to a successful beauty boutique. But now there’s a new factor to consider: green. Or, if you have an appreciation of the French language like Renata Helfman, vert. Helfman, a make-up artist to the stars, recently opened her high-end luxury retail store on trendy Abbott Kinney in Venice, California, visited by Molly Sims & Alicia Silverstone. Specializing in all-natural planet-friendly organic products from around the world, Vert also boasts educational seminars and workshops on all things green.
“All natural, clean living is not a trend. This is a way of life — this is the future,” says Heflman. “I know celebrities, colleagues and friends who are determined to live an all-natural, chemical-free lifestyle… my goal through Vert is to make green living accessible to everyone.”
Although high-end organic beauty and skin care are Vert’s staples (as are the fabulous brands Aesop, Jo Wood, John Masters, L’Artisan Parfumeur, CARE by Stella McCartney and Naturopathica), the store also carries eco-chic labels for the home (think Caldrea cleaning products, Shoyeido incense and Denis Colomb throws as well as Erbaviva and Vedapure and other purely organic brands for baby). The hot product? The the Ayurvedic skin care line Pratima, which you’ll probably have to arm wrestle an A-lister to get your hands on.
Best of all, if you’re having a bad face day, you can stop in for a consultation with one of Helfman’s bevy of talented make-up artists using Jane Iredale and soon-to-launch Nvey cosmetics.
Vert. I’m sure the French would approve of this one stop shop for high-end organic beauty products by la plage.
